My name is Amelia Simonds and I am from Minneapolis, Minnesota. i attended the breck school in golden valley prior to graduation in 2018. Currently, i am a sophomore at the University of Michigan. I am pursuing a degree in Sport Management with a minor in Art and Design, expecting to graduate in may 2022.
Currently, i am an img learfield college property assistant, where i am responsible for setting up and executing the corporate partnership tailgates that occur every football Saturday at the university of Michigan.

Prior to working with img, i have interned with an independent baseball team, the saint paul saints, where i executed game day operations such as giveaway distribution, selection of contestants, and execution of promotional games that occurred between innings. i also have interned with the minnesota super bowl host committee, where i created social media graphics that were posted on facebook prior to super bowl vii, as well as answered the front desk phone.

when i am not in class, i am involved in the sports business association, arts ambassadors, and most recently am the creative and graphics manager for the Michigan sports business conference for 2020. in addition to my passion for the sports industry, creativity is a huge part of my identity, and something i love to do in my free time. in the future, i seek to expand my knowdlege and build upon my motivation and skills in the sports industry.

ABOUT ME
Work Experience
Property assistant
September 2019 - Present
as property assistant, it is my role to set up tables, check in guests, and clean up the corporate hospitality tailgates that occur on the university of Michigan golf course before all 7 home Michigan football games. in addition, i conduct tours of crisler center to ball kids and their families before men's Michigan basketball home games.
currently, this internship is teaching me a lot about the importance of corporate partnerships, as well as the components of a sucessful, revenue generating college athletic department.
Game day intern - promotions and sponsorships

This past summer, I had the opportunity to intern with the Saint Paul Saints, an independent baseball team in Saint Paul, Minnesota. During this internship I was assigned a variety of activities on all of the home games, such as finding contestants, handing out giveaways, setting up the on field promotions, cleaning up fireworks after night games, and managing the autograph sessions that occurred on SUNDAY games.

tHIS INTERNSHIP TAUGHT ME A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT ABOUT GAME DAY OPERATIONS, AS WELL AS FAN EXPERIENCE. I also learned a lot about thinking quickly and remaining calm under pressure.
girls varsity hockey manager

my senior year of high school, i had the opportunity to work for the varsity girls hockey team and be their manager. as the manager, i attended all games during the season where i took stats for the players and filmed the games. in addition, i organized the finances for the end of year team banquet and answered all team emails.

this internship taught me leadership skills, statistical analysis, and professional communication skills.

During my junior year of high school, i had the opportunity to intern with the Minnesota super bowl host committee. my duties included coming up with graphics that were posted on social accounts such as instagram and facebook. one of my other responsibilities included answering the front desk phone and directing calls to the correct departments.

this internship taught me the components that go into organizing a large scale sporting event, as well as mass media marketing that must be engaging to a large audience.
VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE
kids camp volunteer

As a kids camp volunteer, it is my responsibility to help the kids summer camp at Glen Lake golf course. I help with check in procedures, as well as help teach the clinics for kids ages 8-12. The First Tee gives kids who can't afford to purchase golf clubs the opportunity to have their own and be able to learn golf. i am extremely grateful to be able to help spread the sport that i love in meaningful ways.

As a global leadership adventures ambassador, I was given the opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic to build a house for a family in Punta Cana in the summer of 2016. A year later in July of 2017, I was able to travel to Tanzania to build a well and teach English at a school. These opportunities are held very close to me, and gave me the eye opening experience to see and help other parts of the world.

ARTS AMBASSADOR

As an arts ambassador at the university of Michigan, it is my responsibility to help promote the arts events that happen on campus. to do this, i create flyers, as well as send out mass emails. Arts ambassadors also attend many of the exhibits and answer any questions other attendees might have.
